The BMW M4 concept will debut later this week at Pebble beach Concours d’Elegance, but these spy shots give us our best indication as to what we can expect when the car goes on sale next summer.

Despite the disguise, you can see both the Coupe and Cabriolet designs feature BMW M division design cues. At the front, three separate low-air intakes replace the 4 Series’ wide-mouthed grille and the trademark bonnet-bulge is visible. bigger brakes and a more aggressive and aerodynamically designed body-kit, with M4 detailing, mark these vehicles out against the standard 4 Series. The central quad-exhausts eliminate any doubts as to what these vehicles are.
The svelte-looking M4 Coupe features a sloping roofline, giving it the looks to take on the Audi RS5 in the showrooms. The profile of the heavier-disguised Cabriolet is slightly different to the Coupe, as the boot has to be big enough to accommodate the folding hardtop, while the roofline isn’t quite as elegant.
A carbon fibre roof will also be used on the Coupe, which BMW made an attempt to hide with the camouflage vinyl wrap. It’ll help to lower weight as well as the car’s centre of gravity, which will produce nimbler handling. other M4 Coupe detailing include a reshaped bootlid.
The new BMW M3 and M4 will do away with the 4.0-litre V8 used to power the current model and adopt a new six-cylinder 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine. BMW has been tight-lipped about performance figures but insiders suggest around 450bhp is expected – an increase of 30bhp over the 4.0-litre V8 in the current car.
After debuting at Pebble Beach, both the the M4 and M3 saloon will debut at next year’s January Detroit motor Show. Both vehicles will go on sale here in early summer, while we’ll have to wait a little longer for the M4 Convertible to arrive.
