New Ford Mondeo set to hold value much better than BMW 3 series

The new Ford Mondeo, on sale next month, is set to hold on to its value much better than many premium rivals.
Price professional CAP Automotive predicts that the 2.0 TDCi ECOnetic Zetec design will still be worth 42.7 per cent of its listing cost after three years as well as 30,000 miles. As our table (below) shows, that compares favourably to equivalent versions of the car’s more upmarket competitors, the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 as well as VW Passat. only the Mercedes C-Class had the edge over the Mondeo.

Dylan Setterfield, leading forecaster for CAP, stated it was a milestone in Ford’s quest to shed the ‘Mondeo Man’ image. “The Mondeo’s sheer great looks are a huge contributor to such strong expected value retention,” he added. “As long as Ford isn’t lured to saturate the market with heavily discounted new cars, supply won’t outweigh the strong future demand we foresee.”
